Miscellaneous is the tagline to store random posts that don’t really belong elsewhere. They may involve tags, awards, challenges, and other book blogging nonsense.
What’s Miscellaneous Today? Armchair BEA 2015 — Day 1: Introductions
What is it?
Armchair BEA takes the essence of Book Expo America without actually being at the convention and makes the experience virtual. It’s hosted over at http://www.armchairbea.com from May 26-31 and the theme for 2015 isDiversity. Use the hashtag #ArmchairBEA on twitter to keep up-to-date.
Thoughts:
This will be my first time attending anything BEA-related! I’m actually in no rush to really check off BEA con-going from my bucket-list but it’s something that I’m sure all book bloggers wish to do in the future. Anyhow, let’s just move on to the bulk of this post!
And so it begins: the bittersweet Sunday and the beginning to the end of a weekend of labour and fun and books. Today was the day that I could finally enjoy being a consumer. It just didn’t help that I was stuck on commute because it didn’t occur to me to find out that it was also the Santa Clause Parade in downtown Toronto. So there were many kids and semi-agitated parents stuck in the same vehicle. I was kind of disgruntled when we were stuck in traffic for 45-minutes in a 10-meter stretch because I knew I had to get down earlier to buy a book for a signing. But I’m a pretty patient person. So even if the world went to the crapper and those on the commuter bus went manic, I’ll still be the one in the corner patiently waiting hoping for some salvation. Tangents.
It seems like the Saturday days of weekend-long conventions are the busiest times of most conventions. And rightfully so! When Savindi (The Streetlight Reader) arrived a bit early, we found two other high school buds there and it was like bam, throwback conversations.
