[Book Events] HarperCollins Canada: Frenzy Presents (Spring 2019) + Book Haul

HarperCollins Canada: Frenzy Presents
(Spring 2019 Edition)

On February 28, 2019, I was fortunate enough to attend Frenzy Presents, a YA-centric book preview hosted by HarperCollins Canada (HCC). The event’s focus was to highlight upcoming Spring 2019 releases. As always, it was great connecting with the Toronto et al. community of influencers.

I’ll be showcasing the 27 books in full and highlight some standouts that I’m excited for! Better get your Goodreads open because shelves be topplin’.

Spring 2019 In A Glance

Below is a graphic containing the books featured by Frenzy. Are there any covers below entice you? Let me know!

Spring 2019 Books I’m Excited For!

While I am sure I could probably word vomit a bunch of hype for many of the above, I am going to spotlight a few of the titles that have me more than intrigued for reasons of foreseeable feels.

March 2019

Opposite of Always (Justin A. Reynolds – March 5, 2019)

Reasons: GROUND! HOG! DAY!

“But this love story is . . . complicated. It is an almost happily ever after. Because Kate dies. And their story should end there. Yet Kate’s death sends Jack back to the beginning, the moment they first meet, and Kate’s there again.”

May 2019

With the Fire on High (Elizabeth Avecedo – May 7, 2019)

Reasons: FOOD! CULINARY ARTS! FOOD!

“The one place she can let her responsibilities go is in the kitchen, where she adds a little something magical to everything she cooks, turning her food into straight-up goodness. Still, she knows she doesn’t have enough time for her school’s new culinary arts class, doesn’t have the money for the class’s trip to Spain — and shouldn’t still be dreaming of someday working in a real kitchen.”

June 2019

This Time Will Be Different (Misa Sugiura – June 4, 2019)

Reasons: Everyone will probably cry reading this so.

“…when it comes to arranging the perfect bouquet, CJ discovers a knack she never knew she had. A skill she might even be proud of. Then her mom decides to sell the shop—to the family who swindled CJ’s grandparents when thousands of Japanese Americans were sent to internment camps during WWII. “

Sorry For Your Loss (Jessie Ann Foley – June 4, 2019)

Reasons: Hello grief my ol’ friend.

“The only person who ever made him think he could be more was his older brother Patrick, the family’s golden child. But that was before Patrick died suddenly, leaving Pup with a family who won’t talk about it and acquaintances who just keep saying, “sorry for your loss.””

The Beholder (Anna Bright – June 4, 2019)

Reasons: I am bachelor trash.

“But after an excruciatingly public rejection from her closest childhood friend, Selah’s stepmother suggests an unthinkable solution: Selah must set sail across the Atlantic, where a series of potential suitors awaits—and if she doesn’t come home engaged, she shouldn’t come home at all.”

July 2019

Destroy All Monsters (Sam J. Miller – July 2, 2019)

Reasons: You can’t comp Patrick Ness and expect me not to pick it up…

“Ash lost all memory of that event when she fell from Solomon’s treehouse. Since then, Solomon has retreated further and further into a world he seems to have created in his own mind. One that insulates him from reality, but crawls with foes and monsters . . . in both animal and human form.”

Haul and Swag

I walked away from Frenzy Presents with a swag bag containing the below. THEY GAVE BATH BOMBS TO EVERYONE. I will finally get to experience the fizzle life (even if I never take baths, let’s be honest).

Afterthoughts:
