[Miscellaneous] Tags — The Ultimate Book Tag

Miscellaneous is the tagline to store random posts that don’t really belong elsewhere. They may involve tags, awards, challenges, and other book blogging nonsense.

What’s Miscellaneous Today?
The Ultimate Book Tag

Howdy friends!

I’m not sure how this is the ultimate tag to rule all of the other tags but I feel as though I need more serious posts on my blog so I decided to finally do a tag (after being tagged for the umpteenth time LOL—so sorry). Thanks, Rachel (at) Confessions of a Book Geek for this.

Onwards!

Do you get sick while reading in the car?

Depends on the smell of the car interior—I’m awesome like that. For example: I can get nauseated if it’s a new car with leather seating.

Which author’s writing style is completely unique to you and why?

Currently: Andrew Smith—because The Alex Crow is literally confusing me in the weirdest possible way. It’s my first endeavour into how he writes so I’m not sure if this is a good example.

Now, if you’re asking me who my favourite author is…well, I’m sure you can guess who I legit fanboy over huehue.

Harry Potter Series or the Twilight Saga? Give 3 points to defend your answer.

1: Harry;
2: Fucking;
3: Potter.

Do you carry a book bag? If so, what is in it (besides books)?

A messenger bag//backpack, yes. (Although I’m hoping to get a new canvas backpack soon.) Your usual stuff, really, nothing special. Always a book, bottled water, wallet and the like, my drugs, burt’s bees, etc. Basic stuff.

Do you smell your books?

Not on purpose, no.

Books with or without little illustrations.

Generally, with if it’s value added. Books like A Monster Calls? Yes, it is necessary. Fantasy books with expansive worlds? Yes, maps are nice indeed.

What book did you love while reading but discovered later it wasn’t quality writing?

What’s quality writing to me may not be the same for others. To me, a lot of contemporary romances follow a checklist of what to include. That’s all I’ll say so I don’t draw the ire of the community.

Do you have any funny stories involving books from your childhood? Please share!

No. I played video games, sports, and watched a lot of television as a kid LOL (and still do?).

What is the tinnest book on your shelf?

Kim Thuy’s “Ru” is 141 pages—but I’m sure it could be thinner if it actually used up all the whitespace on the page (margins are huge).

What is the thickest book on your shelf?

Hardcover’s of Brandon Sanderson’s Stormlight Archive series. (welll…I’m still waiting to find a discounted Way of Kings before I can actually start this series—I recently bought Words of Radiance).

Do you write as well as read? Do you see yourself in the future as being an author?

Yeah, I try; it’s definitely a stretch goal to be published in some capacity in the future. Not going to lie though: as much as I love sparking discussion debate, I’m iffy to actually share works of fiction online (even though I’ve written fanfiction that will never see the light of day again; if you find my anime-based fanfiction online then kudos to you).

When did you get into reading?

Uhhh—I don’t know—but I can tell you when I got back into reading, which I think was 2012-ish.

What is your favourite classic book?

Between Orwell’s 1984 or Huxley’s Brave New World I guess?

In school what was your best subject Language Arts/English?

I’m not sure what this is asking. I’m assuming this is referring to a high school subject I excelled in, and if so, I’ll probably have to say music (I played 1st Clarinet for 6 years in various wind ensembles).

If you were given a book as a present that you had read before and hated, what would you do?

I’d probably be like “awesome—I’ve read this before” and then store it away until someone has interest in it. Then I’d pass it along.

(Question 16 was supposed to go here but there was no Q16)

What is a bad habit you always do (besides rambling) while blogging?

Not shooting out enough content quick enough, I guess? People who dish out scheduled, daily posts are crazy.

What is your favourite word?

Not a clue (although I do mumble/think what the firetruck to myself a lot though—well…minus the firetruck).

Are you a nerd, dork, or dweeb? Or all of the above?

I’m a person.

Vampires or Fairies? Why?

The next following questions seems like its pandering to a specific type of reader LOL…but I’ll play along.

Vampires. The Strain was pretty solid.

Shapeshifters or Angels? Why?

Shapeshifters because Animorphs.

Spirits or Werewolves? Why?

Spirits because Poltergeist and Spirited Away

Zombies or Vampires? Why?

Zombies because zombie-apocalypse-dinner-conversations.

Love Triangle or Forbidden Love?

I feel like a lot of the time, forbidden love merges with love triangles and I don’t think you can really choose one without the other. So both?

And finally: Full on romance books or action-packed with a few love scenes mixed in?

The latter.

    1. LOL It’s the image I will forever use for all of these upcoming tag posts now. It is my brain at work at 7am deciding I need an image to supplement this post haaaah.

And idk, I think it’s possible for me to get dizzy sniffing pages. I’m not of your species that gets high off of a whiff!

  1. Thanks, man!

“I played video games, sports, and watched a lot of television as a kid.” Aw, YES! Except, maybe, no sports. Just sayin’. And scheduled daily posts? INSANE. Also, I can think of a handful of words to replace firetruck. *Whistles.*

    1. Not a problem–just the first of many tags you may (or may not) complete. Bananas.

And yes–video games will always be up there; it’s a quick stress reliever if you ask me! I think I’m saying wtf only because it’s the safer option to many other more profuse words LOLOL.

  2. Thanks for tagging me, dudebro (awesome word choice, btw). I can sort of relate with you on the car interior smell thing. Sometimes my eyes just roll when the car freshener’s too strong and the AC’s not working properly. It’s not the most ideal reading atmosphere, really.

  3. Hahaha, you make me laugh. This is great. I hope you do have something published some day because you’re seriously awesome with all the words.
