[Music Monday] – #2 – Tritonal & Paris Blohm – Colors (feat. Sterling Fox)

Music Monday is a weekly meme hosted by the Total Book Geek. The purpose of this bookish variant is to match a book with a particular song; whether it is character defining, a narrative element, or just an overall book defining track.

So why am I doing this? Well if I had to choose to only have one of the five traditional senses, it would be sound perception above all else. And hey I think it’d be neat to share music I listen to on a daily basis!

This Week’s Song:
Tritonal & Paris Blohm – Colors
(feat. Sterling Fox)

Book Selected:
Minders – Michele Jaffe

Initial Thoughts:

Michele Jaffe - Minders - CoverBesides this house track being pretty rad, the lyrics is testament to Sadie’s experience in syncopy; to objectively assess what she sees. From thoughts and emotions to dreams, everything is vividly depicted through a myriad of technicolour.

If you’re interested in finding more about Michele Jaffe’s Minders, you can check out my full review here or alternatively on Goodreads by clicking the cover on your right.

Saw them dancing in your eyes
Like shadows in the night
Doing pirouettes around the stars
We were running in a haze I remember every shade
In my veins and they shot up sparks
Words fell from your lips
And all I heard was white noise in the dark
But when you looked away I remember every shade
So let your colors run tonight
We’re painting in the dark
Let your colors run tonight
The colors of your heart
Let your colors run tonight
We’re painting in the dark
Let your colors run tonight
The colors on your heart
The colors on your heart

Afterthoughts:

Also if you watched the Oscars last night, what did you think of the winners? I still kind of feel bad for Leo DiCaprio. But I’m rather pleased with Gravity winning in the categories that it won (so I can continue to laugh at all the twitter hate it received during the show). Shots fired.

Cheers,
Joey

[Top Ten Tuesday] – #9 – Top Ten Character Traits I Wouldn’t Mind Having

Top Ten Tuesday is an original weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish. I thought this would be a fun way to share a condensed version of potential rambles and thoughts that I have.

This Week’s Theme:
Top Ten Character Traits
I Wouldn’t Mind Having

Initial Thoughts:

Although this was supposed to be a REWIND week, I decided to fix up my own theme that I don’t think I saw in the giant repository on Broke and Bookish.

We follow characters through contemporary and perilous settings, taking journeys that test their limits and challenges their before-and-after growth in reaching a revelation. And in order for these characters to cross that bridge, they need to innately exhibit (or gain in the process) physical or mental traits, attributes, or characteristics that define them as a character.

So I propose: Have you ever wished you had a particular trait of a protagonist or supporting character? I know I have:

1. Christina (Divergent) – Legit Candor

Much like blogging/reviewing and all that jazz, the ability to speak your mind freely without true consequence other than an e-slap on the wrist is rather nice. But when the situation is centered in real-life, I find some difficulty in chirping things as I would online for fear of overstepping boundaries and inducing tangible emotions at the other person. So sometimes I do wish I could throw down real talk the way Christina does.

2. Tobias Eaton/Four (Divergent) – Four Fears

There are many things that I’m probably afraid of that doesn’t immediately come to mind right now – probably because my conscience rejects thinking about these things. But it would be cool to have a limited number of fears and not be afraid of such petty things like needles, clowns, insects with many legs, etc. I’m shuddering thinking about them.

[Music Monday] – #1 – Ellie Goulding – Beating Heart (Divergent)

This Week’s Song:
Ellie Goulding – Beating Heart

Book:
Divergent – Veronica Roth

Initial Thoughts:

Okay so this was actually released today and its been on repeat. Legit. I don’t like to hype myself up for movies – especially Divergent –because I still have reservations about the movie adaptation translation, but I have plenty of Goulding’s tracks on my playlist. So regardless of this being in the movie or not, I would have probably included it in my listings.

Here’s the lyric video courtesy of Ellie Goulding’s VEVO on Youtube:

Alternatively, here’s the Soundcloud Track (courtesy of Interscope Geffen A&M Promotion):

Afterthoughts:

Alls I has to say is: FEELS FEELS FEELS FEELS FEELS FEELS.

My initial song choice for this first entry was actually going to be Zedd’s “Find You” (feat. Matthew Koma & Miriam Bryant) that’s also been on repeat and also part of the Divergent soundtrack. But then this came along today… guh.

Cheers,
Joey
