[Top Ten Tuesday] – #57 – Top Ten Favourite Authors/Mangakas

Top Ten Tuesday is an original weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish. I thought this would be a fun way to share a condensed version of potential rambles and thoughts that I have.

This Week’s Theme:
Top Ten Favourite Authors/Mangakas

Initial Thoughts:

I’ve split this list to include authors of books and manga simply Book authors are cool but I can’t forget all the manga/anime that have been a pretty big part of my life (even if I read it sporadically and am super behind). I might not have caught up with every author/artist and their respective works but I do appreciate them enough to give them a shout-out.

margaret atwood - oryx and crake (coer)william shakespeare - hamlet (book cover)ocean at the end of the lane - gaiman (cover)

Margaret Atwood – For letting me catch a whiff of your writers scent when I let you and your entourage pass into the Toronto International Book Fair…and your books are neat too, I guess.

William Shakespeare – For confusing the heck out of me in school in the most positive of ways…?

Neil Gaiman – For introducing his brain to the world.

Brandon Sanderson - The Way of Kings (cover)patrick ness - knife of never letting go (cover)harry potter - jk rowling (cover)

Brandon Sanderson – For inciting feels of epicness all around. Like ohshit-feels. They’re pretty legit feels. You cannot discredit me.

Patrick Ness – For bringing me back into reading and the hilarity that is his tweets. butitisofnosurprise.

J.K. Rowling – For providing excellent source material for a decade of film experiences.

GRRM – For Game of Thrones. No, seriously, it has resulted to too many almost-uncontrollable feels.

Manga

Manga’s were what I grew up reading with some western graphic novels here and there (depending on what my brother owned). I hope those interested in delving into manga give it a shot!

Hajime Isayama (Attack on Titan) – This has got to be the most feels manga/anime I’ve come across in the past decade.

Hiromu Arakawa (Full Metal Alchemist) – Perhaps my second all-time favourite anime adaptation in Brotherhood. Everything was just so right about it.

Atsushi Okubo (Soul Eater) – It was ridiculous and wonderful all in the same heartbeat.

Shoji Gatoh (Full Metal Panic) – Mmm, I actually only watched the anime but Fumoffu was so incredibly funny with Bonta-kun.

Saeki Shun (Shokugeki no Soma) – My inner foodie craves all the food they cook up on this. Also, this just comes at a time that I miss previous anime like Yakitate!! Japan

Tadatoshi Fujimaki (Kuroko no Basuke) – One ungodly morning I decided to watch an episode. It was like basketball meets Bleach meets teamwork-feels meets testosterone…and it was surprisingly wonderful.

saki - manga coverdgrayman - mangacoverkimi ni todoke cover

Ritz Kobayashi (Saki) – Okay, I love gambling playing mah-jong and between Saki and Akagi, this just feels more epic. It’s like mah-jong on crack, really.

Katsura Hoshino (D.Gray Man) – I have strong attachments to this manga due to it being the source material of first group cosplay (I was Allen Walker).

Karuho Shiina (Kimi ni Todoke) – I figured I’d round out this list with something close enough to contemporary romance. It was enjoyable for all of Sawako’s quirks.

Afterthoughts:

Bam—this wasn’t the most interesting of topics to me so I was pretty wishy-washy as to whether or not I wanted to do it. Alas, I caved.

Cheers,
Joey
