ARC August is the yearly read-a-thon where you try to tackle as many advance readers copies as possible during August. The event is hosted by Octavia and Shelly (at) Read, Sleep, Repeat.

Initial Thoughts:

Praise be that I have the opportunity of reading several highly anticipated Fall 2017 releases. There is no rhythm or rhyme as to what I will read but I do have more favourable choices in the lot.

So what’s in my immediately pile to be reading during this reading event? Probably a few of the titles here, in no particular order:

Zero, Repeat, Forever (G.S. Prendergast)

He has no voice, or name, only a rank, Eighth. He doesn’t know the details of the mission, only the directives that hum in his mind. Dart the humans. Leave them where they fall. His job is to protect his Offside. Let her do the shooting. Until a human kills her…

Sixteen year-old Raven is at summer camp when the terrifying armored Nahx invade, annihilating entire cities, taking control of the Earth. Isolated in the wilderness, Raven and her friends have only a fragment of instruction from the human resistance. Shelter in place. Which seems like good advice at first. Stay put. Await rescue. Raven doesn’t like feeling helpless but what choice does she have?
Then a Nahx kills her boyfriend.

Release (Patrick Ness)

Afterthoughts:

How many will I actually get to? Likely two, maybe three (and that’s including the one I’ve already started pre-August). We all know Patrick Ness is #1 most anticipated. That’s undisputed. But, to your surprise (maybe), Warcross is actually among my top 3 hyped titles I need to read this season because I need to see the video game rep. Like, so much need. Too bad I cannot read this until JESSE RELEASES MY COPY FROM BEING HOSTAGE AT HIS PLACE JESSSSEEEEE.
