This Week’s Theme:
Authors I’d Love To Meet

Initial Thoughts:

Short answer: mostly everyone (I acknowledge there are some that are just less cool because of some of the things they’ve said and stuff and stuff.)

Patrick Ness (Chaos Walking)

I obviously will turn into a puddle of nothing if/when this happens. But I have a lot of words to say to owe to this dude who kickstarted this whole blogging thing for me. Yep. But. Words. Fail. Me. Ahhh.

Nic Stone (Dear Martin)

It is interesting when you are mainly familiar with someone by proxy of speaking to them candidly on social media rather than having to read their book (and when they indicate that they’d be more than happy with a 2.38/5 star-rating from you). Shit.

Jeff Zentner (Goodbye Days)

I wish Jeff was my dad.

Simon Curtis (Boy Robot)

Notwithstanding how rad and kind Simon is, I’m actually very interested (curious?) to see how his music making process is like.

Riley Redgate (Notewothy)

Have I read any of her books? Not yet. I do have Noteworthy in my immediate pile so that’s exciting. But not many people appreciate a cappella so…on that basis, I just want to flail about all things vocal music!

Barry Lyga (I Hunt Killers)

Truth be told, I just want to put some criminal procedural television shows on play and let him theory craft away based on his extensive knowledge of bloody and murderous things…

Rick Yancey (The 5th Wave)

So I can walk up to him and ask “but why…” to everything that happened beyond the first book. W H Y.

Brandon Sanderson (Mistborn)

Honestly though, Sanderson teaches very engaging and enthusiastic writing classes/lectures that are posted on youtube. I highly recommend you watch them if you’re a budding writer. He seems like a fantastic teacher.

Leigh Bardugo/Victoria Schwab/Pierce Brown

sort-of alreayd met these authors at signings and the like but I most definitely would not mind longer chill sessions with them!

Afterthoughts:

MEET. ALL. THE. ROCK. BOOK. STARS.

Cheers,
Joey

  1. Imagine what a co-written book with Brdugo, Schwab and Brown would be like. I’d be all for that team, even though it’d probably destroy me.

I hope you get to meet Patrick Ness soon. I think he just announced a UK tour so I’ll have to see any of the stops are within traveling distance to me.

  2. Barry Lyga is going to be at BookCon this year and I am going! 😀 I hope I get the chance to meet him. I wouldn’t mind meeting Ness and Zentner too.

  3. True story: my friend and I accidentally walked into a Patrick Ness signing at my favorite bookshop one day. He did a reading and afterwards I totally got a book from him because what he read made me laugh and I wanted it XD.

Also, yes to Schwab. I must have gone to her signings every single time since ADSOM came out and I’d still want to go to another meetup with her.
