  1. Wow! This was so much fun to read! I loved seeing where you guys were the same and where you differed. I also loved seeing a few contemporaries that I love mixed in.
It’s so hard to pick a favorite. If I had to pick one book that was released in 2016, I would go with The Hard Count by Ginger Scott because it was filled with a ton of important themes and beautiful writing.

    1. As always, thank you for your kind words Dea! I definitely tried to get a variety of voices in the community around me that I could ask for their answers! Surprisingly (or maybe not surprisingly), I have seen some buzz for The Hard Count on twitter from fellow NA readers; which isn’t to say that I’m interested in reading it but who knows!

      1. The Hard Count is one you might like. It’s definitely more YA than NA and has a high school setting. It’s a romance, but what it encompasses is so much more than that. I haven’t heard of anyone who doesn’t like it yet.

  2. I really like hat you guys put together here – so many I still need to read. 🙂

I’ve read so many great books this year – but The Girl From Everywhere, Ink and Bone, The Raven King, You, and The Lies of Locke Lamora have been some of my favorites!

Check out my TTT and my current giveaway.

    1. Thank you for your kind words! I actually had a friend spoil me the plot/ending to The Girl from Everywhere as I had doubts that I would be able to find time to read it. I’ve also heard rave reviews for Locke Lamora and that’s definitely a fantasy world I want to dive into!

  3. This is such a cool way to share favorites! It’s also awesome to see different people’s opinions in one post, makes it much more interactive. I haven’t made my top books list but I’m pretty sure that my best overall will be A Gathering of Shadows 😊

  4. I just bought Vassa in the Night and pretty stoked to read it! I did not like the Great American Whatever that much. It was actually hard for me to even rate it. Lily from Lily & the Octopus…yes! Books about dogs are always so sad though. I cried the entire time hahah. For me I would go with Angharrad; I finally finished Chaos Walking! 😀 Jasper and Howie…YESSSSSSSS! I love the Serpent King so much. It’s probably my favorite of the year.

    1. Two things: Vassa in the Night, while arguably beautiful in world building (I found), it can also be quite daunting in confusion! Sorry to hear about your dislike for Great American Whatever, but at least we can agree on the enjoyment in TSK.

Also: you prize Angharrad over Manchee? I must now evaluate our friendship, Ashley!

I LOVED the dynamics between Howie and Jasper; just the thought of Howie’s medical condition meeting with Jasper’s escapades is hilarious!

      1. No, no, no! Not over Manchee! I read The Knife in 2015…so I didn’t count it toward 2016 relationships. Never over Manchee. I swear every time Todd mentioned Manchee in Monsters of Men I started to cry all over again. I did grow to really love Angharrad though and was happy that Todd had him.

    1. You have been missed, Migsy! I hope you return back to your glory days circa 2015 (ish). Also: I’m not saying my titles are the best on this list (but I’m definitely saying you should check them out). But hey, we both liked The Great American Whatever so how’s that for a vote of confidence for you?
