Reviews:

A lot of these books are what I read a while back but just haven’t gotten time to release reviews for; so it’s not indicative of my reading month. Well…that’s not true. Darkly put me in the worst of slumps lmao.

  1. I am half way through season 1 of Mr Robot, and I find that I really, really need to be in the right mood to watch it. It’s a bit intense, especially when I am just in the mood for something light. I feel like I need to watch The Purge, just to see the hilariousness…I love watching really bad “horror” movies, I find them better than some comedies lol. Awesome post! And congrats on the 3-4 years!

    1. Aw, really? I think I found Mr. Robot season 1 more engaging than the current season (2) but that might also be because I was completely enthralled with Rami Malek and his acting haha.

The Purge is SUPER hilarious and ridiculously bad. Is it a scary thought? Sure, but it’s delivery (especially Election Year) was so bad.

      1. I have heard from other people that they found season 2 a bit harder to get into. I think I just need to sit down and dedicate some time to it, I have been watching it very sporadically lol.
I think a lot of these horror writers/producers have got the wrong idea when it comes to horror. And that’s when their movie becomes more a comedy than horror. I just watched Occulus and thought it was definitely one of the best horror movies I have seen in a long, long time.

  2. Hi Joey.
This post sparked an observation. I prefer television series to movies. More specifically, I prefer mini-series. I like arcs. That is why I like anime. They have a beginning, a middle, and an end. I want to see a conclusion to the story. Movies are too fast and overwhelming, for me. They often constrict the story-telling process. Mini-series do more than flesh out the characters, they engage in worthwhile story-telling. I am a fan of the Netflix series, Daredevil, Jessica jones, and Luke Cage. Currently, Miss Plumtartt and I are on episode 5 of the 8 episode mini-series, ‘Stranger Things’. It is fantastic! We both have a very low gore tolerance. ‘Stranger Things’ looks scarier than it actually is. it is charming, and very much like ‘Super 8’, if you saw it.
    Happy Reading and Viewing!

    1. 10 episode mini series are definitely great for getting across a much wider storyline but not have it drag as traditional television seems to do in 22/23 episodes.

I have seen Stranger Things and Super 8! Eagerly anticipating the Sense 8 Christmas Special!

As a usual fan of Horror films (sans heavy gore like Evil Dead), Stranger Things is very mild. It’s akin to retro Goosebumps; which isn’t horrifying at all. Glad to hear you’re enjoying the show though!
