This Week’s Theme:
Anticipated Fall 2016 TV Shows

Initial Thoughts:

Hello to you, stranger. If you’re not familiar with my non book blogger ways, then I’ll have you know that I’m very much a viewer of television more than I am a reader of books.

So here’s a list of Fall 2016 debuts I’m excited to air!

The Good Place

I’m hoping this one is good not just because it’s Kristen Bell but because it’s Kristen Bell.

Marvel’s Luke Cage

Because yes.

Frequency

I’mma just say it: I am CW Network trash and will usually give most of their shows a chance (even if it’s the most doozy of a plot ever). What I will say is that it’s cool CW supports its previous actors from shows that might not have panned out.

Timeless

I am almost certain this big budget-ish show will be cancelled and will eat my words if it lasts more than one. Otherwise, it’s like a terribad kind of viewing experience from this trailer alone.

The Exorcist

I’m honestly curious about this show to see how much they add or butcher the original. Probably the latter.

Making History

After Adam Pally’s presence in The Mindy Project, I will fully support what show he goes to next. Watch the trailer, seriously.

Speechless

I do appreciate the small steps ABC is doing to feature more broader family shows. This one features a MC with cerebral palsy.

Designated Survivor

Basically reluctant hero has to become the hero. Fuck yeah. Also Kiefer Sutherland and Maggie Q winning.

Imaginary Mary

I won’t make it past the pilot…I think…but I just want to know what the fuck this imaginary fluff ball of a furry looking tooth is.

Son of Zorn

Oh my god the trailer was hilarious. I am so psyched for this show. It’s like a parody of He-Man LMAO.

American Gods

This is a 2017 release but this adaptation excites me!

Renewed Shows I’m Excited For 16′-17′

Off the top of my head (and I’m probably extending into Spring 2017 but whatever).

Top Tier: How to Get Away With Murder, The Magicians, Game of Thrones, Orphan Black, iZombie, Suits

Mid Tier: Quantico, Agents of SHIELD, The Real O’Neals, Jessica Jones, Daredevil, Arrow, The Flash, Reign, The 100, Younger, The Mindy Project

Low Tier: Criminal Minds, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Lucifer, TVD, Shadowhunters

To Binge: The Americans, The Night Of, Preacher

Afterthoughts:

I’m sure there are more but shenanigans are still shenanigans and I’ll stop here from preventing this list to be massive.

Cheers,
Joey

  1. Great post! I’m highly anticipating Luke Cage if only for the soundtrack! lol. Can’t wait for the Mindy Project to return CUZ c’mon that season finale?!?!?! I have to finish up The Magicians (loved the books) before the next season. Also, have you heard of the new HBO series Westworld? I may just binge it along with Night Of 🙂

  2. Frequency looks like a good show. I’ll definitely check it out once it premieres. I’m really looking forward to Agents of Shield and The Flash, since they’re the only ones I faithfully followed for the last year, also because my friends watch them. I watch a lot of shows but I’m always busy with school 😦

Game of Thrones is automatic for me so of course I’m ultimately excited for that haha! I also can’t wait for Luke Cage and the whole of The Defenders tbh.

    Happy Watching!

  3. YES to The Good Place and your reason for watching it. You can’t go wrong with KB. As soon as I saw her in the trailer, I was sold. I totally forgot to put Speechless on my list this week. I’ve seen the previews and it looks like it could be a great show.

  4. I’m pretty sure I will binge watch Luke Cage when it comes out. Does that take place after Jessica Jones or before? ALSO AMERICAN GODS WHAT! I mean I haven’t read the book (it’s based off the book right?) but I WANT TO. I will look into that show, hopefully it’s good 🙂

  5. I am here for The Good Wife and Speechless. I am intrigued by American Gods, but since it looks to be an hour long show, I’m probably going to wind up passing on it. #oldpeopleproblems

  6. For being big budget, Timeless just didn’t look very good. I might give it a try for that twist the trailer hinted at (in which Ms. Historian Lady finds out that her future self might be working against her past self), but overall, it had a kind of Sleepy Hollow vibe. (Ie, entertaining enough for a season or so, but nothing to write home about.)

TBH, I’m just not blown away by this year’s Fall lineup. Frequency has potential, but do I really want another time travel mystery with family issues? Luke Cage I’m going to see because Jessica Jones blew me away, but I really hope Netflix doesn’t do Luke Cage in a Daredevil style (I wasn’t a fan).

    Designated Survivor? Maybe.

American Gods is also on my list, as is Sherlock (that’s this year, right?). I also plan on checking out Incorporated, Aftermath, Good Behavior, and Midnight, Texas. The Tick, maybe, if Amazon ends up producing it.

Top Tier Returning: Supernatural, Jessica Jones, Sherlock, Doctor Who, Man Seeking Woman…

Mid/low Tier: Marvel’s Agents of Shield, Drunk History, Mr. Robot, Blindspot, Into The Badlands…
