Top Ten Tuesday is an original weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish.
This Week’s Theme:
Books Hauled Prior To Blogging
That I’ve Yet To Read
Initial Thoughts:
I am of the team that did not own too many books prior to blogging. Instead, I will grace you with my exorbitant purchases from the early days of blogging a la Book Outlet that I still haven’t read because reasons. Shit.
Parallel (Lauren Miller)
Reason for hauling: it was $1.64 Canadian. Okay, but seriously, I think alternate reality premises are fun?
Every Day (David Levithan)
Reason for hauling: jumping on the previous explanation of alternative reality stories, this is sort of to that extreme as well. I was super intrigued to just learn who A was and the big why. Plus. hype!
Incidents in the Life of Markus Paul (David Adams Richards)
Reason for hauling: because I wanted to immerse myself in more Canadian Literature and this book features aboriginal communities.
Guardian (Alex London)
Reason for hauling: I think most people who finish Proxy (and moderately enjoyed it) may require the follow-up to the cliffhanger of an ending. But while I do want to know more, I’m kind of fine not knowing what happens next too? Derp.
Past the Shallows (Favel Parrett)
Reason for hauling: it’s probably somewhere here and there between exploring more Australian Literature…that’s all I got for a reason.
Golden Boy (Abigail Tarttelin)
Reason for hauling: this book explodes with diversity and has an intersex male lead who deals with sexual assault.
The Program (Suzanne Young)
Reason for hauling: ¯\_(ツ)_/¯???
Nil (Lynne Matson)
Reason for hauling: Sounded like Lord of the Flies, ok? But the real reason I hauled this was because of Khanh’s glorious 1-star review.
Archetype (M.D. Waters)
Reason for hauling: so, apparently, Gone Girl meets… wait for it… Handmaid’s Tale — wut??
Afterthoughts:
BASICALLY I SUCK AT READING LAALLALAA.
Cheers,
Joey

Man, Parallel was awful. SORRY, haha. The sci-fi stuff was shoved aside for this weird triangl-ey romance thing. >.>

Ohhh Archetype. Love that duo logy. I hope you’ll read it soon. I think I was already hoarding more than I could read before I started blogging. So I will need more than 10 to participate in today’s prompt. Lol.

I really loved Every Day! I would tell you to read it, but the last time I told you to read a book you still haven’t read it. 😛

Hahaha, I think all of us book bloggers are equal parts good and bad readers. We read way more than the average person, but also pile up way more books than we could ever read in a single lifetime.

The program one – it looks like it could either way. Super awesome or super sucky… lol
