Friends Book Tag
I thought this tag to be quite fitting to Valentine’s Day because friendship is a close friend to romance and love.
Thanks to Deanna @ A Novel Glimpse and Jesse @ Books at Dawn for tagging me!
The One Where Eddie Won’t Go – a character I wish would just go away:
This choice would mean there’d be no book (maybe) but I have to say it: Mare Barrow (Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard). One of those characters you’d be better off not knowing…for multiple reasons you’ll discover upon reading Glass Sword.
The One Where Ross and Rachel Take A Break – favorite break up scene:
This might be a really bad choice because you’re actively (and perhaps rightfully) cheering for the breakup to happen but The Girl Who Fell by Shannon Parker. Abusive relationships nononononononono.
The One With All The Kissing – a book with lots of kissing:
I don’t even remember their names but the people in Colleen Hoover’s Hopeless. I remind you that I’m at 40…60? percent but have since dropped it as it is incredibly plotless that I don’t have the care to read it. Literally jogging then kissing then angty drama then more running and kissing…
The Last One – favorite series finale:
I don’t think I have an answer worthy of this title.
The One With a Blackout – a scene I’d like to forget:
Any death scene. Like fo reals.
The One Where Chandler Can’t Cry – a book that did not make you as emotional as others:
A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness. I know people truly saddened by the story, and while I completely understand the creative intent and can sympathize, I felt distanced to the happenings.
The One Where Joey Doesn’t Share Food – a book you won’t ever lend:
Is this a backhanded comment or what? I’m always willing to lend 97% of my books out. I currently have 8 ARCs/Finished copies lent out I think?
The One With the Thumb – a recent read that you would give two thumbs up to:
The Serpent King by Jeff Zentner. Everything you’ve heard about this is true.
The One With the Ick Factor – a book with a pet peeve:
When non-protagonists aren’t given a voice to have backbone and reason for their actions. Instead, they’re forced to meddle with the protagonists every demand. Those books grate on my nerves not because the protagonist is (or isn’t) selfish but because everyone ought to have their own ambitions. I feel like every book has some of these antics so…
The One With The Lesbian Wedding – favorite LGBTQ book couple:
A Gathering of Shadows by Victoria Schwab. Yup, I’m doing that thing called hype sooooo.

And now I’m thinking about her song Smelly Cat. Haha. Everything big must happen at the end of Hopeless because I always forget about the amount of running in that book until you bring it up.

But how?! Every time I talk about Hopeless in person I get all riled up and it’s like “but running…but nothing happening…but seemingly Amish lifestyle…but more running” — ugh…

Maybe skip to the end where it all comes out?

The only thing better than the FRIENDS series, is the FRIENDS series with the addition of bookish references. It was so awesome to reminisce on some of the classic episodes, and see your book pairings!

I’ll one up that and say: finding your own clique-y bookish friends to live up that FRIENDS mantra. That’s goals.

Love your answers. I told you that The Serpent King is amazing. *winks*

Surprisingly, I actually have like 80 pages to go but I jumped the gun a bit and made that claim because it’s still definitely gearing towards a 4+ read (and you know how stingy I can be with ratings…)

I have only seen a few episodes of Friends (my mom loves them and I sometimes stumble upon her watching the show). I very much agree with your pet peeve, that annoys me as well. Thanks for the tag! 😀

Damn protagonists making me feel like I gotta be a stepping stone to their hero’s journey, right?

Ughhhh it’s the one I told you about when we were walking to BMV (the one that was similar to Brawley, or at least that’s what it felt like–and I cannot find it in the catalogs wtffff)

FRIENDS is my favorite show of all time. I never get tired of watching reruns, and I was one of those people that bawled my damn eyes out at the series finale. Yep.
I’m gonna pretend you weren’t hating Hopeless.

I’m going to pretend that you and Rachel didn’t hype CoHo for me only for it to not work LOL.

Ah I LOVE Friends haha 😀 All the episodes are just so rewatchable eheheh xD
I love your response to the ick factor one – books with non-protags that just follow along with the protag without any motivation, any real character make me kinda sad 😦
Thanks for tagging Joey! I’ll have fun doing this one ❤

It’s kinda weird cause, in theory, I did grow up at the same time Friends was popular but I guess I never paid much attention to television then (aside from cartoons and the like). And I hope you relive all of your favourite Friends moments when you do the tag!

I just started Glass Sword, so I am curious to see what these multiple reasons for better off not knowing Mare, haha.

Yes you should let me know how you feel about Mare after you get to page 300 or something!
