[Awards/Tags] — The Deserted Island Book Tag

Miscellaneous: Awards/Tags is the tagline to store random posts that don’t really belong elsewhere. They may involve tags, awards, challenges, and other book blogging nonsense.

The Deserted Island Book Tag

I probably wouldn’t last a few days on a deserted island; especially if it has all the critters that are a big nope for me like in Aussieland (have you seen that huntsman spider [edit: IT’S ACTUALLY THE WOLF SPIDER] that explodes into a million baby spiders? nopenopenopenope).

Thanks to Deanna @ A Novel Glimpse for tagging me! YOU SERIOUSLY COMPLETE SO MANY TAGS OMGHOWDOYOUHAVESOMANY?!

Water — A book you simply cannot live without

So is this like choosing your favourite book? Damn. Currently, I’m reeling over A Gathering of Shadows (Schwab). It is so good you guys. It demands the hype.

Food— A book that is a close second on your favourites list

Okay, this prompt doesn’t make sense to me because I wouldn’t be able to live without food either and food would be #1 on my favourites list. But I digress.

A book that’s close to making it to my favourites list might be Joe Abercrombie’s Shattered Sea trilogy (even if I’ve only read the first book, I found the writing to be rather luminous).

Shelter — A book that makes you feel at home and safe

Something with magic and explosions. I will be listing another one of Sanderson’s works in poor taste below so I will make up for it by saying Steelheart/The Reckoners trilogy.

Flare Gun — A book you would recommend to someone who doesn’t read

I think one of the biggest requirements is for the story to be heavily plot driven but still have some semblance of dynamic characters. So, with that mindset, Leigh Bardugo’s Six of Crows LOL. Hype.

Matchsticks — A book that warms your heart

My heart is forever cold because das how we do in Canadaland. If I was in survival mode, I’d have to regrettably burn Brandon Sanderson’s Stormlight Archive (which I haven’t read) for kindling — dude it’s 1k+ pages per book alright? Keeping me alive equals keeping me warm.

Compass — A book that directed you towards your love of reading

I’d probably sound like a broken record for saying The Hunger Games again, so instead of that particular franchise that got me back into reading, I’ll name the books that got me into book blogging, which is Patrick Ness’ More Than This and Rick Yancey’s The 5th Wave.

Let’s be real: my deserted island situation feels mighty comfy on my bed.

  1. Well, thanks for traumatizing me about that spider! I swear, my fear of spiders is worse than Ron Weasley and Annabeth Chase combined. XD Thanks for the tag! I shall add it to my never-ending list..haha.

  3. I wouldn’t last a few hours on a deserted island, lol. I can’t take bugs and I’m sure there would be a lot of weird ones.
Thanks for tagging me! I still need to read A Darker Shade of Magic! I was so excited to get it on Book Outlet and still haven’t read it haha. That’s me and most of my books though, lol.

  4. I like your choice for matchsticks – when it comes to survival, I’d pick a nice big hefty series like that one, too.
And I’m so with you on Australia’s wildlife. *shivers*
