[Top Ten Tuesday] – #91 – Books Recently Shuffled On My TBR

Top Ten Tuesday is an original weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish.

This Week’s Theme:
Books Recently Shuffled
On My TBR

Initial Thoughts:

The original prompt was “Books I’ve Recently Added To My TBR” but really nothing has changed since I listed my anticipated 2016 reads.

Instead I have listed the books on my top priority to read.

The Serpent King (Jeff Zentner)

Almost completed this gem.

A Gathering of Shadows (Victoria Schwab)

Borrowing a copy from a fellow blogger and I have a week and a bit before I gotta return it (but that’s not a problem — I’m sure I can devour it this week).

Red Rising/Golden Son (Pierce Brown)

So now that I found out Pierce is having a signing for Morningstar in Toronto, I feel like I have to binge the series (and also buy Golden Son full price *i cry*). Ahhhh.

Calamity (Brandon Sanderson)

Whenever it releases. DROP EVERYTHING AND READ.

Daughters of Ruin (K.D. Castner)

Not sure if I’ll read this review copy sooner or later. It doesn’t help that it kind of reminds me of Scorpion Bow (not that I finished that book) but…different.

Thanks For The Trouble (Wallach)

Might try to request this book [again]. Depends on how I fare with everything up there since I don’t want to burden my slow reading. But this portion of the blurb speaks to me (not that I hang out in hotels but the passivity of it all):

Parker Santé hasn’t spoken a word in five years. While his classmates plan for bright futures, he skips school to hang out in hotels, killing time by watching the guests.

I Hunt Killers (Lyga)

SO I BINGED MAKING A MURDERER ON SUNDAY, RIGHT? AND I WAS (AND STILL AM) LIVID. WHAT THE FUCK. I DEMAND ANNALISE KEATING V. MANITOWOC COUNTY. …But it has made me want to read this crime thriller murder nonsense even more. This is not good for my heart.

The False Prince (Nielsen)

On the search for my next great MG read, I have found this trilogy that’s already been released. Seems pretty solid.

But When Pile

After most of the need to reads obligations are over and done with (which I’m hoping to be like mid-march or so) I’ll probably choose between books that I needed to read since a long time ago: Passenger (Bracken), Vicious (Schwab), The Novice (Matharu), Illuminae (Kaufman/Kristoff), Ember in the Ashes (Tahir), Half the World (Abercrombie) — all of which are totally subject to change because Moody ain’t give no fucks.

Afterthoughts:

But I beat my reading challenge of 1 already so take that.

Cheers,
Joey

  1. I am slightly jealous of the fact that Pierce Brown will be coming to you soon. If/when you meet him tell him to get over to the UK so I can gaze into those piercing eyes haha.

The closer we get to the release of A Gathering of Shadows the more impatient I get. I need more of Kell and his coat in my life.

The Serpent King has me intrigued so I’m definitely going to have to check that book out.

  2. I really want to read The Serpent King and Red Rising.
So glad you binge watched Making A Murderer, although I still need to finish the last two episodes!
I am even more glad that it makes you want to read I Hunt Killers even more! I need to know what you think about this book! HAHAHA. I say that every time, but for real though! You’re the last person I am waiting on to find out what they think!

    1. The cosmos seem to not want me to get to reading Jasper Dent (I’m trying to March, hopefully!) With Pierce Brown’s upcoming signing, I gotta continue on Red Rising/Golden Son, else I would have totes started JD at the tail end of this month (I even finished all my immediate arcs and shit early too ugh).

  3. I need to read Golden Son before Morning Star comes out!! So exciting that you get to go to his signing! ALSO! HOW ENRAGING IS MAKING A MURDERER!!!! As if they can make that show and the courts not reopen his case?!

  5. Hi. I love the blurb from Thanks for the Trouble. That one sounds good. I’m going to aspire to attempt your reading challenge of 1. 🙂
    Thanks for stopping by.

  6. Lol, congratulations on reading one book, Joey!

And glad you finally got your hands on AGoS even though it does have time limit before you have to return it.

And, oh my gosh, Making a Murderer sounds way too creepy for me. I strongly dislike thrillers and most mysteries (not a Gone Girl fan, at all). But that didn’t stop me from picking up Kepnes’s You this month.

  7. Victoria Schwab, for some reason I haven’t read one single book by this author, and I keep seeing her EVERYWHERE. Maybe it’s some kind of sign, and I should check out her books?! Idk. Congratulations on reading ONE book, now THAT’s something incredible, I’m so proud ahah 😀

  8. I still need to get to Red Rising too, just never comes to the top of my list haha. Personally I didn’t enjoy The False Prince at all. Yeay to your reading challenge. 😀

  9. I Hunt Killers sounds so interesting. I have yet to binge on Making a Murderer (I’m still trying to finish off X-Files before it premieres next week!), but I enjoy a good serial murder book! Going to have to add this to my TBR list now.

  10. Congrats on beating your reading challenge. Things can only go up from there, right?
A lot of your But When Pile reminds me of books I’ve been waiting for.
    Good luck getting through everything!

  11. God, I’m sooo excited for Morningstar. I’m trying not to get too crazy about it because it’ll just make it that much harder to meet my expectations. But I love the first two so much, and book two actually improved over book one, so it’s hard to restrain myself.

I look forward to hearing all about it when you go to the author event. *jealous*

      1. For me, I enjoyed RR but didn’t love it. So many parallels to Hunger Games but on most counts I thought it was pulled off more skillfully, so I kept reading. Then book two, where most series lose my interest, I absolutely adored. I just don’t want book 3 to be a letdown. *fingers crossed*

I look forward to hearing what you think (whatever that may be). 🙂
