[Top Ten Tuesday] – #83 – 2015/16 Film Adaptations To Be Watched

Top Ten Tuesday is an original weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish. I thought this would be a fun way to share a condensed version of potential rambles and thoughts that I have.

This Week’s Theme:
2015/16 Film Adaptations
To Be Watched

Initial Thoughts:

I’m not on team “books” or “adaptations”. I’m on the team that watches and reads whatever, whenever.

*Word around town is this post didn’t go live, so here’s a re-post*

2015 Released Films I Haven’t Seen Yet

The Martian

The reason for not having viewed this yet is so dumb. I hyped this to my friend, got em interested, then they ended up going to see it without me. WHO DOES THAT :(!?

Goosebumps

Because nostalgia. Now if they make me a Are You Afraid of the Dark movie…then, damn, that’ll be full circle for creepy shit as a kid.

Paper Towns

As with every other JG thinger that I have never seen the contents of but seem to know what happens (i.e. I totally guessed Fault LOL)…this one’s a maybe.

50 Shades of Grey

I will totally watch this one day — for the sole reason of understanding (?) a glimpse of wtf is so hyped about the contents of this book (aside from the obvious non-vanilla happy times idk).

Room

This title has moved up and down my TBR for quite some time. And though I do say “fuck it, I’m gonna watch the film” … part of me, for this book at least, wants to read the book first. Yikes.

Unlisted because not technically released yet:

Mockingjay Part 2, In The Heart of the Sea

2016 Upcoming Films I Need To See

A Monster Calls

Obviously.

The 5th Wave

As long as it’s better than Divergent as an adaptation (which, actually, isn’t a high standard to begin with).

Suicide Squad

 Comic influences totally count, yeah?

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them

Am I even allowed to be excited for this film considering it’s probably sin for a book blogger to have not read the entirety of Harry Potter?

Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children

Mainly because I know I will never read this book. Burton hasn’t failed me before though.

Afterthoughts:

I’m pretty behind on a movie watching in general though. I’m almost caught up in television bingeing, so I can’t win all the battles.

Cheers,
Joey

  1. WHAT. I can’t believe I left Fantastic Beasts out of my list. Aimal, you idiot. -.-‘ You should totally watch 50 Shades. It’s cringe-worthy but totally entertaining. I had a lot of fun pointing out the parallel scenes between 50SoG and Twilight. xD

  2. 50 Shades is actually hilarious to watch. I spent the whole time either laughing, cringing or pointing out her leg hair. If you’re going to be naked, please shave your legs dammit! Anyway, YOU SHOULD TOTALLY READ MISS PEREGRINE’S. I will endorse it until the day I die.

  3. I really want to see Paper Towns! The book was very John Green, so if you don’t like his writing style, avoid it. How have you not read Harry Potter?!? You’re missing out on amazing things!!

  4. *douses you in holy water* 50 Shades?! hahahahaha oh boy, been avoiding that movie like a plague xD

Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children is what I’m most curious about because BURTOOONNNN! Also, Eva Green casts as Miss Peregrine and she basically rocks. Nuff said. The book sucked though bahahaha

I have a feeling Fantastic Beast will be fantastical and really? You haven’t read the HP book series? *gangs up on you*

Pretty excited for Goosebumps (this was my childhood, man….), Monster Calls and 5th Wave too. Crossing my fingers that they won’t disappoint D’:

This is a damn good list btw *thumbs up*

  5. Good list! Although 50 Shades? 😑 I will admit I’ve “watched” it for the same curious reason and wanted my 30 mins back (I basically fwd through it). I’m pretty excited for Fantastic Beast and A Monster Calls I don’t think these two needs any explanation why lol. I saw the trailer for 5th Wave and actually was excited…although I’ve not read the book.

  6. HOW DARE THAT FRIEND OF YOURS GO SEE THE MOVIE WITHOUT YOU! 😱😭
I need to see pretty much every single one of these adaptations but I have no idea when I will find the time!

  7. HOW COULD YOUR FRIEND GO SEE THE MOVIE WITHOUT YOU?? 😦
    Your Initial thoughts…YESSSSSSSSS.
I snorted at your response to seeing AMC because I ma in total agreement, I cannot wait for this movie, but I will be royally pissed off if they mess it up. I also want to see the 5th Wave. I probably won’t see Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them. I haven’t heard much about the movie, but I have committed the sin of not reading the entirety of the HP series. I feel that I will probably just..watch the movies?? I actually didn’t finish PT because I. WAS. BORED. I have read everything JG has out, and I saw Fault. I have found him a bit mediocre compared to some that I have read, but he’s relatively good. I want to watch PT mainly because I want to watch the scenes that went along with the amazing soundtrack. i was recommended a few songs on the soundtrack that I loved, particularly Radio by Santigold which I highly rec if you haven’t listened, and now I want to watch just to see what scene that awesome song went with.

  8. Oh, and I am beyond excited to see Mockingjay Part 2, that poster of Jlaw was sooooo badass, and got me jumping up and down in excitement.

  9. I’ve watched Paper Towns though I didn’t read the book. Can’t say I particularly liked it. It was kinda meh. Then again, John Green’s rather’s hit and miss for me.

  10. I thought the 50 Shades movie was a waste of time. I hated the actors and without knowing what’s going on in Ana’s head there’s no real emotion to the story. It was cringe worthy. But that’s just my opinion. 😉
