[Awards/Tags] — Fall Time Cozy Book Tag

Miscellaneous: Awards/Tags is the tagline to store random posts that don’t really belong elsewhere. They may involve tags, awards, challenges, and other book blogging nonsense.

Fall Time Cozy Book Tag

Hellllllo. I was tagged by Deanna @ A Novel Glimpse to do this tag! (Thank you so kindly.) And what a perfect time for this to go live considering Fall and shiz is happening right now–go figure?

Crunching Leaves:

brandon sanderson - firefight coverThe world is full of colour. Choose a book that has reds, oranges and yellows on the cover.

I think I could have went with Sanderson’s other titles as well (i.e. Way of Kings) but Firefight is the most…orange-y looking one I think? Also there’s a lot of kabloomy explosions that happens in this sequel so I guess that also paints the world red…with destruction?!

Cozy Sweater:

the rest of us just live here - patrick ness - book coverIt’s finally cold enough to don warm cosy clothing. What book gives you the warm fuzzies?

I’ll go with my most recently read that elicited a lot of feels. The Rest of Us Just Live Here For it’s characters. For it’s plot. For the cats. I will also forever prefer the UK cover edition over the  novelty of the glow-and-dark NA version. Well, maybe.

Fall Storm:

The wind is howling and the rain is pounding. Choose your favourite book OR genre that you like to read on a stormy day.

I don’t even know what Fall Storms are…? It was snowing just last week. I’d like to think that I’d go binge some television instead LOL. (But I’ll play along anyways).

But in terms of book genres/books: the weather doesn’t dictate my mood for certain titles. It’s the opposite, really. That my mood dictates what I read. So the only answer I can give is “my current read”. Otherwise, a safe bet is something out of SF-F? I’m frolicking around in the fantasy genre right now and it’s amazing.

Cool Crisp Air:

Who’s the coolest character you’d want to trade places with?

This question doesn’t make sense to me. Wouldn’t you rather trade places with a nobody so you could hang out with said cool character? Some characters I’d love to bromance it up with include Nikolai (Grisha Trilogy), Anonymous (Zeroes), Yarvi (Half A King), The Monster (A Monster Calls) — and this means I’d have to replace some nobody in each story to do so…

Hot Apple Cider:

blackthorn key - kevin sands - book coverWhat under hyped book do you want to see become the next biggest, hottest thing?

First off: I would have totally included Christopher Rowe up there in the bromantic category but I think The Blackthorn key by Kevin Sands deserved this hype. Not sure how I can hype it more than I already have but it’s basically a MG Hist-Fic/Fantasy/Mystery that’s just a joyride of a read. Plus, it’s a tinge interactive.

Coat, Scarves and Mittens:

The weather has turned cold and it’s time to cover up. What’s the most embarrassing book cover you own that you like to keep hidden in public?

“Cold” … LOL. I need to ask the person what their definition of cold involves.

But as much as I’m an advocate for reading whatever the hell you want, there’s still part of me that doesn’t really enjoy the thought of onlookers judging the book I’m reading. Of the books I do own, yes this would mean a Colleen Hoover title; which is actually tame compared to others with naked models on them. (That I do not own a physical copy of.)

Pumpkin Spice:

What’s your favourite fall time comfort food/foods?

(I’m surprised this question isn’t asking about a hyped book.)

But I actually don’t know how to answer this. I love (and will eat) almost anything. In terms of “Fall” flavours, you can’t go wrong with apple pie (sweet side) or perhaps a casserole-dish of lasagna (savoury). Granted, however, that I’d be eating the former without ice cream and the lasagna would ideally not be filled with cheese. I’m not quite lactose intolerant but I actually can’t stomach too much dairy product.

  2. When I read “Brace yourself winter is coming” I thought you were talking about The Lunar Chronicles and I was like THAT’S SO PUNNY!!! and then you didn’t even mean it that way! LOL! Thanks for tagging me I’m totally down to do the fall tag (even though it’s current spring in Australia). I have The Rest of Us Just Live Here sitting on my shelf and I just want to get to it RIGHT NOW, but there are so many books on that damn shelf it’s hard to priorities! Great post 🙂

    1. Alas, I did not mean Winter from Lunar Chronicles LOL. (I totally thought people would have caught my Game of Thrones reference instead… damn.)

Oh you Australians and your different seasons and such and such!

Hope you read The Rest of Us soon — I’d recommend reading it after reading some SF-F dystopian. You’ll get a kick out of the satire in TRoUJLH

      1. No I definetly got the GoT reference but I also thought you doing a play on the words that Winter’s coming out as well!! It’s definitely going to be one of my next reads!

  3. I need Zeroes like now! And I need it to be Winter here! I live in Florida, so Winter is pretty much non-existent. 😦 I want snoooow! Instead I have sand.

          1. I think I am going to have to try this out.I want snow! Although, when I did live one year where it snowed, I hated it so much because it snowed SO much and it was so annoying haha. I’m just over the heat though! It’s November and still 85-90 degrees lol.

  4. Thanks for the tag, Joey!

I looooved Firefight. Steelheart was actually the book that got me reading again after a multi-year reading slump, and Firefight was also super fun with, yes, lots of kabloomy explosions.

  5. Fall seems like such a great season. I love how it sounds from what I’ve read. Of course… constant rain is not something I’m a fan of. XD But anyway, I’d love to read A Monster Calls ASAP… or really, anything by that author. And Zeroes too. Great tag!

    1. Do you not have a Fall season or something O_O? (I’m only asking because you said it as if it doesn’t exist for you LOL). But A Monster Calls (aside from my comments made to want to switch with characters from it) definitely has a lot of Fall aspects to it; especially all the foliage.
