[Miscellaneous] Awards/Tags — The Sunshine Blogger Award

Miscellaneous is the tagline to store random posts that don’t really belong elsewhere. They may involve tags, awards, challenges, and other book blogging nonsense.

What’s Miscellaneous Today?
The Sunshine Blogger Award

Why hello there!

I’ve decided to take a weeklong break from meme tags and decided to go on the award route instead. I was nominated by Ashley @ Dear World, McKenzie @ Bookish Things and Tea, and Daniela @ Only Books and Horses (I’m sorry it’s taken over a year to get this up LOL). If you nominated me and I forgot, do let me know. The premise for this award is…I don’t really know. By its namesake, I’m going to assume that it features bloggers who have brightened…my day? (SUPER CHEESEBALLS, I KNOW.)

The questions/answers will be colour coded by the individual asking, and because I don’t want to inundate you with 33 total questions, I’ve chosen 5-6 questions from each to answer.

Ashley wants to know…

If you were to choose one book boyfriend have a book bromance, who would it be with?

Much like this weeks Top Ten Tuesday about bromancesI’m going to echo that being bros with The Monster from A Monster Calls would be cool. Otherwise, Uriah from Divergent series seems like a fun dude to be with. Thibault from Zeroes is a new addition to the bromance ranks.

What is your favourite ice cream toppings?

I seldom eat ice cream/gelato in general. Not officially diagnosed to be lactose intolerant but I just run with it because life is just easier that way. (Plus, WebMD suggests I am so there’s that…)

I am always looking for new television shows to watch, so what is a favourite of yours?

Instead of giving a favourite, I’ll say that in the 2014 Fall/2015 Winter schedule, the first-season releases that have caught my attention are Mr. Robot, Sense8, How to Get Away With Murder, The Flash, and iZombie.

Although if i had to recommend one title, it’d be Mr. Robot. If you have a crush on Tatiana Maslany of Orphan Black, you’ll really appreciate Rami Malek (even if he doesn’t play a clone).

What is your favourite movie?

One of my favourites is Inception (or maybe I’m just a Nolan fanboy—I’ll never tell).

What is a book everyone loves except you?

We Were Liars? Red Queen? The Deal?Fucking hype, right?

Dinosaurs or Sharks?

Dinosaurs because shark vitamins don’t exist (or at least I’ve never seen shark shaped ones before).

McKenzie wants to know…

What’s your favourite snack food?

This is a difficult question because it changes a lot. If we go the fried potato variety, I do enjoy Miss Vickie’s Sweet Chili and Sour Cream or Lay’s Ketchup (yes, Canadian flavours are bomb).

Do you have any strange bookish habits?

Not really but when I’m reading at home, on my bed, I tend to fall asleep really easily (like within 1-2 pages I get super drowsy).

What’s your favourite part about blogging?

The freedom to write crazy word vomits and be validated for it…somewhat. (Because you’re all insane like me for enjoying those posts.)

What are your dream travel locations?

Wanderlust is something that comes and goes; most often enjoying the idea of an adventure than actually going about it. It’d be cool to backpack across a country and make pit stops at different bloggers homes (because your kindness = I can save on boarding).

What are your thoughts on manga/anime?

In terms of a medium for entertainment, I actually grew up with manga/anime. I even cosplayed foooooor 3…4 years?

Daniela wants to know…

If you had to hang out with one book character for the rest of your life, who would you choose?

Can I say Manchee from Chaos Walking Trilogy? Yeah, I am going to say Manchee—I fucking love this little guy.

Do you have a favourite book-to-movie adaptation?

The only one that comes to mind right now is Catching Fire…but I’m a pretty big television/film guy so there are probably more. The entirety of Lord of the Rings was pretty feels too.

What are your thoughts on Goodreads?

I’m trying to use it more…hence my slow and steady friending of all you people (let me know if we aren’t friends and you’d like to be friends!).

What’s your favourite book that is not set in an English-speaking country?

Andrew Critchley’s Dublin in the Rain comes to mind. It’s a meditative contemporary that I found myself invested in.

What’s your favourite thing about your blog?

I think I enjoy my serious-but-not-really-serious conversational tone in opening table topic discussions that you don’t see regularly. Because word vomiting is everything.

My Questions:

  1. If you’re in an epic fantasy, what does your warcry sound like before battle? (Spell it out!)
  2. Who is a villain you despise? Now imagine that your child looks up to this villain. How do you handle it?
  3. You’re a bartender; concoct a drink with 3+ book titles in the name.
  4. What is one book cover (minus text on it) do you think could fit another book.
  5. What’s a song you feel best fits a book hangover?
  6. You’re on commute surrounded by readers. You notice that some have cracked spines, others dog-ear their pages, a few annotate it. How do you feel?
  7. Would you rather read the page at 25% or 75% (a play on first/last).
  8. Blogging-related. How do you find new inspiration?
  9. Your ideal book-significant other (i.e. boyfriend/girlfriend) ends up being together with one of your friends. Your reaction?
  10. Of all the books on your shelves, which book would you hide something in (you can think about carving the pages out or not)?
  11. Complete the phrases: “Reading is…”, “Blogging is…”, “[The] Community is…”

  1. Your questions are amazing, give me your powers??
And I have to ask: who/what did you cosplay? I want to myself but I’m too much of a shy wussy.

Thanks for the tag, Joey! 🙂 gonna have fun doing this!

    1. There are no powers here!

I’ve done (with a lot of help) Kurobasu, Soul Calibur 4, D.Gray Man, …I feel like I’m forgetting one. It’s a lot of stress and a lot of fun. And you basically become a model for a day and people be like “can I have your picture” and it’s the one day you can be super vain and be like “line up” (but not really–but not really really).

      1. I’ve been thinking of cosplaying this year, but all my friends say that you should go to conventions twice because on the day you cosplay you’ll never get to do the things you want to do. Still thinking about it. 😐

  2. Your questions are crazy but they look so fun to answer lol! I watch How to Get Away with Murder too.. actually any Shonda Rhimes TV series. Wow, you do cosplay?! Not that I do but I’m an avid fan! You should definitely dedicate a post showing pictures of you in those costumes 😀

    Thanks for tagging me!

  3. Loved reading your answers, Joey! Your idea of travelling sounds like so much fun…if you ever decide to backpack through France, I’d be happy to give you a tour 🙂
I really should read the Chaos Walking Trilogy…should I?! I keep hearing everyone talking about it, it sounds good I guess! 🙂

    1. Ohh! I don’t think I’ve met a blogger who resides in France but this is wonderful news! Time to add you to my imaginary world-map of bloggers HAHA. Actually, that’s a good project idea….

The writing in CWT is…different, to say the least. I think you’d have to enjoy the premise first off before delving into the 500+ page (x3) behemoth.

  4. Haha! Totally forgot about this tag 😛 great answers though – and YES Manchee is always a valid answer!!

  5. Manchee! *sobs* I love that little guy too! Best companion ever. Thank you for the nomination, I can’t wait to do it! 😁 I enjoyed all your entertaining answers.

  6. I LOVE Inception! That movie was weird. And confusing. And the music was just awesome.
And I’ve often contemplated the idea of travelling around staying a bloggers houses…Of course, there’s no way I’d ever be able to do it, but it would be fun.

  7. Um so your answers are fabulous and the questions are also fabulous so I don’t know what you mean by “the creative juices weren’t flowing.” LIES!
I find it depressing that you may be lactose intolerant because ice-cream is pretty much my favorite dessert of all time. I especially like it if they have chunky almonds or fruit in it.
Also, I find it interesting that you cosplayed! What’s the experience like?
    And thanks for the tag!

    1. NO. I AM NOT SATISFIED WITH ALL OF THEM. SOME OF THEM WERE OKAY–NOT ALL.

It’s okay. You learn to deal with being intolerant to anything.

Buuuuuut cosplaying in a nutshell–as much as it is fun for you to make the costumes and model them–it’s bursts of short lived experiences. And it’s an excuse to be vain..so there’s that.
