[Miscellaneous] Awards/Tags — The Harry Potter Tag

Miscellaneous is the tagline to store random posts that don’t really belong elsewhere. They may involve tags, awards, challenges, and other book blogging nonsense.

What’s Miscellaneous Today?
The Harry Potter Tag

Hello to another week of tags galore! I was tagged by my lovely sweet kernel of corn, Summer @ XingSings, and she thinks “sweet corn” cannot be the used the same as “sweet pea” (in terms of a nickname). Comment below if you agree/disagree with her.

(I’ll fight you for disagreeing.)

Favourite book?

I don’t think it’d be fair if I answered this question because I’ve only read the first two books. So I won’t answer this.

Favorite film?

Tough call—I thought Goblet of Fire was incredibly fun (and perhaps rightfully so). Deathly Hallows Part 2 was sheer bliss as a statement to the journey’s end. The direction of Prisoner of Azkaban felt right (I can’t really say otherwise since I didn’t read it). I’m speaking to the overall film as opposed to a “book translation”. They all have merits.

Least favorite book film?

The fact that the cash cows decided to split Deathly Hallows into 2 parts…like, please, stop this trend. I would have even paid a bit more to sit there for 4-5 hours instead forreal. I don’t care if my bladders explode.

Parts of the books/movies that make you cry?

DUMBLEDORE? DOBBY!!!?!!!!?!??! The feels were too real.

Favorite character?

Have you seen the Buzzfeed video “If Hermione Were The Main Character in Harry Potter”? No, seriously, if you haven’t–go watch it now. It’s so great. This is an excerpt:

“This carriage is for boys only.”

(It was in this moment that Hermione first learned a very valuable skill: throwing shade.)

“I’ve read all the rules, there’s no such things as a boys only carriage–“

“Do you know who that is? That’s Harry Potter…the boy who lived.”

“It’s funny you should say that because I’m Hermione Granger…the girl who gave literally zero fucks.”

LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOO. I’m dying.

It reasons why she’s up there in my personal list. But I don’t know. My attachment to characters is way different because I grew up with the films. Perhaps Neville or Luna? Yes, probably one of those two…

What would your Patronus be?

I was going to say an Otter…because otters are wonderful—see Exhibit A:

otter-playing-with-pebble-gif otter-playing-with-butterfly-gif

But because otters are already Hermione’s thing…I’m going to have to say Quokka. Yes, this little guy is the reason why I want to travel to the down under and take a selfie with it. Oh my goodness…but maybe I’m saying this because a baby marsupial is a Joey… I AM MY OWN PATRONUS?!!!?!

If you could have the Resurrection Stone, the Invisibility Cloak, or the Elder Wand, which one would you choose?

My mind tells me invisibility cloak but I know I’d prefer the Elder Wand.

What House would you be in?

I’ve always thought that I was a Hufflepuff (I don’t know why) but every test I’ve done and people I’ve talked to think I’m a Slytherin. Then a month ago I did that cross-sorting house quiz and got Slytherpuff. It’s a sign.

If you could meet any member of the cast, who would it be?

I’m actually not that big on any of the actors in this franchise or their off-screen personalities so I can’t provide a definitive answer.

If you were on the quidditch team, what position would you play?

Probably a chaser. It seems the least stressful of the bunch…

Were you happy with the ending?

It was fine.

How much does Harry Potter mean to you?

The franchise [obviously] doesn’t hold as much meaning to me as it does for every other book blogger alive who has read and re-read the series but it still was a part of my childhood. It’s that commitment and all those years and fun moments going to the theatres to watch the film with some buds that made the whole experience pretty darn wonderful.

I’m trying to tag more (and different) bloggers! If you haven’t heard of some of them–check em out. They’re all wonderful people!

If you need some reading material, I’d recommend reading this weeks discussion post: [Fandom] Ships Don’t Sink…They Turn Into Shipmarines”

I’m also slowly getting into using Goodreads more and will go on a friending spree soon. Though you can totally make it easier for me by clicking the link below or providing me a link to your GR!

Cheers,

  1. Oh mercy, this whole post had me in tears.
“My lovely sweet kernel of corn” AW AW 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 I’m dying. I can’t breathe.
FIGHT ME, YO because I don’t think sweet corn can be utilized the same as sweet pea. Why: It sounds grossssss 😂😂😂. But calling her “my lovely sweet kernel of corn” —*chokes while laughing*—is SUPER ADORABLE and totally works.

I totally see your point with the movie thing, which also caused me to laugh ANDDDD the patronus, thing, LOL. Wait, is your name actually Joey? I simply assumed it was just a shortening for Joseph. That’s interesting! And awww for your last answer. You being a Hufflepuff wouldn’t have been my first guess, but it’s all in how you want to define yourself, I guess. I totally would’ve pegged you for a Slytherin, or maybe even a Ravenclaw.

I’m probably one of the few book people left who haven’t watched the movies nor read the books. I can’t see myself reading the books, but I can see myself marathoning the movies. ONE DAAYYYYY.
Thanks for the tag, tell your kernel of sweetness I said hello. *busts out into laughter* *sighs*

    1. Do you prefer eating peas over corn? If you do, then okay. BUT IF YOU DON’T THEN YOU CAN’T SAY CORN IS GROSS. THEREFORE IT’S EVEN MORE OF A COMPLIMENT IF I’M EQUATING HER TO SOMETHING I LOVE MORE THAN MUSHY PEAS (LIKE, EW?!).

On the papers, it should be Joey, yeah, but I’d like to think it’s Joseph. It has more of a zing to it.

…okay, I thought I was bad if I haven’t finished reading the books but if you haven’t done either. That’s like the 1% of the 1%.

      1. FINE. I LIKE CORN MORE THAN PEAS OKAY?? BUT IT SOUNDS NASTY, KINDA.
Oh, Lord, your name is a pun on the baby marsupial isn’t it? Oh God, the wit. That slays. That slays.
        Yep, I’m a rebel!!! 😉

  2. Oh my gosh! I’m laughing so hard on your answers! I’m actually on a public train while reading this post and you know how embarrassing it is to be chuckling alone while others shoot you a “hey weirdo” glance. JK Rowling should definitely have considered a Slytherpuff house.. or a Gryffinclaw lol. I just posted mine yesterday but thanks for tagging me! 😀

  3. Once again I’m afraid I cannot do this tag because I have not read the series! But cheers for the tag. I enjoyed reading your answers. You being your own patronus? Possible… Possible.

  4. LOL. I just finished reading this entire post and now I’m laughing so hard. Hermione the #BossWitch. Gender roles and equality… and then witch oppression. 😂😂😂

Good point! Actually ALL THIS TIME I NEVER ASSOCIATED YOU TO A BABY MARSUPIAL. BUT YOU ARE ONE, JOEY! 🐨🐨🐨 (I hope these koala emojis don’t appear funky on WP…) And those otters have mad skills. 😀

^^And see?!! Even Wesaun agrees that Sweet Pea is the term!

  5. Well I’m extremely curious to hear about the origin of sweet corn but I think it depends XD Sweet Pea is a flower but sweet corn… isn’t? But sweet corn tastes good so I wouldn’t mind at all! I mean it’s definitely better than some of those not as amazing nicknames out there. I have to say that I think I like her old nickname Sumer more though.
As for the tag… I def agree with you on the thing about how everybody splits the last movie into two parts. I didn’t mind it as much for HP but for The Hunger Games. God. Mockingjay Part 1 was such a drag.
I think the term Slytherpaw sounds ridiculously funny. It’s like… a scaly paw? Well that’s what I imagined.
You’re also the third person to tag me (thanks btw!) but I don’t think I’ll get to this one in a long time.
