Initial Thoughts:
Today’s prompt looks at characters who are book nerds and it ranks up there as one of the harder topics to find characters to fit seeing as how I rarely come across characters that concern themselves with the literature. And since I couldn’t fill this list with solely book-related characters, I’ll throw some television ones out there as well.
Books
The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry – Gabrielle Zevin
One of the many examples in fiction of books about books.
Messenger of Fear – Michael Grant
I don’t remember much about this book or which characters were the aspiring authors LOL but there was reference of Random House and NaNoWriMo in this, so that has to count for something.
Red Queen – Victoria Aveyard
By the time you read this, I should be done this book. But Julian gives me old people feels. That is all.
Fahrenheit 451 – Ray Bradbury
The transition from incinerating books to being engrossed in the texts is a peculiar kind of growth.
Lexicon – Max Barry
What would readers and book nerds be without words or the power they hold?
Matilda – Roald Dahl
This kid is probably more well read at her age than I will ever be in a lifetime.

The Mindy Project
My mind tells me that Mindy was reading a Cosmo or Danny was reading some kind of book. Not certain this happened but definitely not impossible.
The Gilmore Girls
Know that I did not finish watching this because I-dont-have-a-solid-reason, so I can only ship Rory with Jess—wait, that’s not what this topic is about—yes, Rory fits the bookworm title!
The Simpsons
I’ll admit that I couldn’t care much for Lisa but she was an integral part of this show when I watched it growing up.
Suits/How to Get Away With Murder
Any law-oriented show can basically make reading pages and pages of legal documents and texts interesting. Sure it’s not leisurely reading but dude, I wouldn’t mind spending several minutes watching them watch their text all intently. Oooh the suspense! (Not even sarcasm.)
Game of Thrones
This could have gone under the book-character specific category but I ain’t got time to read it. So hello Tyrion, welcome to the ranks of television.
Orange is the New Black
Remember when The Fault in our Stars (John Green) was featured?
Daria
Daria Morgendorffer epitomizes so many of us.
House of Cards
Frank Underwood seems to be an incredibly well read. So well read that it’s perhaps a bit scary. But I would read that non-fiction book that Yates wrote concerning America Works.
(There’s probably more though but my brain is fried.)

Oh man, I am just waiting on the review for Red Queen. It’s going to be gold. I don’t know where I would be without the power words hold. I cannot imagine a world without the book community.
OOOOHHH, I love HTGAWM, what was your favorite episode or moment? There was never a bad or off episode. The music is endlessly on point. So many moments I loved, but a moment I watched over multiple times was probs the one where Analise was all, “No, we could use some fun around here.”, and sasses the lady without the paperwork for the DUI. Some of the best acting was when Sam and Analise were arguing, and she was telling him to kill her. YOOOOOO, so intense, and you know the acting’s good when it gives you those chills and you want to see it again. Ugh, all hail Viola Davis. HTGAWM is some of the best TV I have ever graced my eyes upon. It is popcorn-eating material, and the ONLY reason I am excited for the fall because this show… damnnnnnn. Sorry if you don’t like long comments, if so TELL ME so that I don’t accidentally write you a thesis in your comments, but I could talk a while about HTGAWM, sorry!

I don’t know if I have a favourite HTGAWM episode or moment but when Annalise goes full on badassery in the courtroom, it’s pretty powerful shit. I’m not talking about like general exchanges of her; I’m speaking to her [basically] monologue-ing.

I think I could have done a whole top ten with TV or movies. It was tough to think of ten book characters! I did cheat a little with two nonfiction people. 🙂 Love your list!

Tyrion and A J Fikry are both on my list. I really debated about going the TV/movie route (mainly because I wanted to include Belle from Beauty & the Beast), but ended up sticking to books. I like your mix!

So then, after having made my point, I’ll proceed to a more civilized response. I’m almost definitely, maybe, absolutely certain a lot of us can relate to the Matilda sentiment. And I thought Guy’s growth, no matter how peculiar, is incredible. Oh, HELLO RED QUEEN! Also, if Book Riot doesn’t get me to pick up Lexicon, you would Tam-Tam. You would. Interesting selection!

Joey, just wanted to drop by and say that I am impressed by the prolific quality (er, quantity?) of your posts! I also appreciate your voice and honesty – like right here when you write include an “LOL” and your commentary on Lisa Simpson. Also, I think I recall seeing that you did not like The Red Queen so much on Goodreads… so I am sorry about that and hope you read a more satisfying book soon, if you have not already!
