[Miscellaneous] Awards/Tags — The I Am More Happy Than Not Tag

Miscellaneous is the tagline to store random posts that don’t really belong elsewhere. They may involve tags, awards, challenges, and other book blogging nonsense.

What’s Miscellaneous Today?
I Am More Happy Than Not Tag

The I Am More Happy Than Not Tag was adapted by Shelumiel @ Bookish and Awesome as a companion to Adam Silvera’s upcoming novel More Happy Than Not. There aren’t any rules for this tag than to simply highlight ways you’ve been able to express happiness from the things—big and small—in your life.

Thanks for tagging me Summer @ Xing Sings and Lumi @ Bookish and Awesome.

Disclaimer: The image used in this tag was created by Lumi himself.

I Am More Happy Than Not Tag

Whenever my perpetually overheating Alienware laptop powers up, though already having a dead battery, I am definitely more happy than not. (It’s connected to the outlet now.)

Whenever I read or review a book, even if it’s incomparable to what other beastly bloggers seem to churn out, I am more happy than not.

Whenever I word-vomit nonsensical ideas with uncertainty of its acceptance in the world, though I am only being myself in what I write, I am unequivocally more happy than not.

Whenever I come across something hilarious, even if I am the only one laughing, I’ll take my happiness over none at all.

Whenever I do everything else that isn’t reading, which seems to be all the time, I am definitely more happy than not. (Reading ranks lower in me-time after sleep, television/films, writing, and gaming.)

Whenever I read a physical book on commute, irrespective of what I’m reading, I know I’m a cool badass and happier than otherwise.

Whenever I bump into inanimate objects and apologize with a “Sorry”, I remain unapologetically more happy than not. (Canadians will understand my woes.)

Whenever I’m in public and there is a door to be held for someone behind me, even if I lose a few seconds, I am more happy than not in doing so.

Whenever I discover a new addicting track to listen to, I am more happy than not listening to it on repeat for the next week or until I find the next tune to catch my ear. (Currently: Luke Shay feat. Jeremy William’s Up And Away & Jessie J’s Flashlight from Pitch Perfect 2—WHICH I HAVEN’ T EVEN SEEN THE MOVIE FOR YET.)

Whenever I write fragmented stories of a much bigger picture, even if I spend hours cutting and revising the same sentence, I am without regret and am more happy than not.

Bonus:

Whenever my buddy and I jam, even though we haven’t done it in ages (not to mention we’re I’m off-pitch most of the time), I am more happy than not to belt shower songs with others.

Here’s a clip from a Disney/Mulan session. The audio is questionable at best but most of all, I hope your ears don’t bleed from my singing: [This link will redirect you to SoundCloud. You have to click the play button #prepareforbleedingears] – Laugh and cringe along with me :)!

**GoogleDrive audio wouldn’t share outside of CAN/US apparently, so I had to settle for SoundCloud instead. If the above link doesn’t work then let me know. Ahhh this was so annoying to troubleshoot.

  1. I loved this, it was extremely entertaining! Thankyou for inviting me to do this tag. I will definitely do it on Booktube as well as on my blog! This will be really fun.

    1. Haha I’d be lying if I said part of me doesn’t write with the intent of entertaining. And I figured since you’re one of the few BookTubers I actually know of [personally?] (I’d like an autograph before you get famous) maybe you can spread the #MoreHappyThanNot trend on BookTube!

  2. “Whenever I read or review a book, even if it’s incomparable to what other beastly bloggers seem to churn out, I am more happy than not.” What? Pshh, your book reviews are great!
And, like for all sequels, don’t have too high expectations for Pitch Perfect 2. It was a fun movie but I had moments where I wished I could have fast forwarded in the theater. But I have to admit, Flashlight is an addicting song!

    1. I have this fear as days progress and the world gets more needy for quick, accessible information, my ranty reviews may be drowned out ahhhh. I admit this need to spam the keyboard is a problem!

I didn’t have THAT high expectations for PP2 seeing as how
but since they actually chose to include groups like Pentatonix and Filharmonic to the movie I thought I could appreciate it more…? I think this movie is one of those things I’ll keep throwing money at for the arts undertone. Have you listened to The Filharmonic’s cover of Flashlight? It’s bananas: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zNAkI8KMHMU

      1. Even though their appearances were brief, you’re right, Pentatonix and Filharmonic are additional incentives to watch this movie soon. AND HAHA, I’ve actually been listening to that cover nonstop this past week!

  3. Miel, Joe. MIEL. Ugh.

    1. Thank you for doing this, dude!
    2. “Beastly bloggers.” Yeaaah, they’re pretty intimidating. (I’m only slightly kidding. Oops.)
    3. Oh, the world is a better place with your “nonsensical ideas.” Especially when get, like, this ranty guy.
    4. It’s WAY BETTER to laugh at something others don’t find hilarious than have zero humor.
    5. I didn’t know you’re such a polite kiddo. You’re rude to me all the time.
    6. That track-on-loop-forever. I can totally relate! (Side note: I just saw Pitch Perfect 1 last night. T’was fun.)
    7. HECK YEAH. Like, you write one chapter for one day and you edit for four days.
    8. The clip isn’t working and THE INTERNET NEEDS TO HEAR THIS!!!

Again, thank you so much Joe! I am More Happy Than Not that you had quite a hard time with this one. *Smiles knowingly.*

    PS. I emailed Liam, too!

    1. Who’s Miel? I only know a Lumi.

STOP EXPOSING TO THE WORLD MY RANTING WAYS WITH EXCESSIVE COMMA USE. I love commas in all it’s splicing goodness. And parentheses.

The pot calling the kettle black [again] huh? You’re the one who instigates most of the things!

Now you must go watch PP2, for me, and everyone else who hasn’t seen it.

Did you send more than 1 email? I didn’t remember seeing Liams email in that one you sent me.

  4. Saw this and loved it! I was glad they tagged you! But I don’t understand- why a bookish blog if you don’t like to read? =P
(Although sometimes I can relate, depending on the book.)

    1. Oh it’s not that I don’t like reading per se but rather there are so many other distractions that call to me all the time. Not to mention that I started really getting into the reading thing a lot later than most (gaming/television always had precedence growing up).

Excited to see what makes you #MoreHappyThanNot!

  5. Such an inspiring tag, Joey. Not caring about other’s opinion is one sure way to a more positive outlook in life. 😀 Confession: your book reviews are intimidating.
