[Top Ten Tuesday] – #37 – Top Ten Characters To Get Their Own Spin-Off

Top Ten Tuesday is an original weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish. I thought this would be a fun way to share a condensed version of potential rambles and thoughts that I have.

This Week’s Theme:
Top Ten Characters To Get
Their Own Spin-Off

Initial Thoughts:

Let’s be honest here: 96.2% of the time, I enjoy following the antics of the supporting characters rather than the main protagonist. Why? Beats me. Not gonna lie though, thinking of characters in books was kind of harder than normal for me. And because I watch television shows almost as much, if not more, than reading books…I decided to do halfsies and threw in some worthy t.v. characters that should also get their own spin off show.

Books:

the storied life of aj fikrypatrick ness - knife of never letting go (cover)more than this cover

Maya (The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry – Gabrielle Zevin)

Her own series of narratives when she discovers all the little noted commentary/summaries per book (if you remember the start of chapters).

Manchee (The Knife of Never Letting Go – Patrick Ness)

The Knife of the Ruddy Dog—NY Times Bestseller easy peasy.

The Driver (More Than This – Patrick Ness)

The beginning of it all—I need it.

lord of the rings - jrr tolkien (cover)hunger games - suzanne collins (cover)divergent - veronica roth (cover)

Gollum (Lord of the Rings – J.R.R Tolkien)

Uh, I mean, why not?

The Victors: An Anthology (Hunger Games – Suzanne Collins)

Call me sadistic but I’m really interested in seeing how the previous arenas panned out from start to finish (even if it’s just short stories). Old characters, new characters, anything. Just give me more unique arenas—and from characters who aren’t part of the main ensemble!

Uriah Pedrad (Divergent – Veronica Roth)

Aside from being my favourite character, his perspective as a Dauntless born initiate would be rad. I’d also rewrite a few things, just saying.

Television Shows:

Uh, read the next section at your own discretion. There may be spoilers pertaining to certain shows (but I tried to not be so obvious).

Asher Millstone & Connor Walsh (How To Get Away With Murder)

These fellas share the better character dynamics in this show. While Davis carries this show, the random quirks of these two in a web series involving daily antics, insults, what have you, will suffice.

Donna & Norma (Suits)

…If you’ve even watched an episode of Suits, you’d know why Donna is perfect. Sorry, but no other personal assistant has reached her slayer status. On top of that, I want to meet this elusive Norma.

Tom Keen (The Blacklist)

I swear everyone on the official Facebook group has a strong dislike for him but I think there’s just so much that’s unknown (you know, after yesterdays Fall season finale…)

Felicity // League of Assassins (Arrow)

It’s a tossup, really. They’re slowly starting to explore deeper into the cult-ish faction that is the League of Assassins, so I can’t really say that they won’t be delving into this. On the other hand, my interests in ship-jumping between Olicity/Barricity could be relieved by her just getting her own show. Ugh, the latest episode with Felicity was right in the feels (and on an unrelated note: I was waiting for Nolan Funk to bust out into a Glee medley).

Leopold Fitz & Gemma Simmons (Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D)

Basically, it would be so neat if they could have their own “Bill Nye The Science Guy” sort-of educational show.

Afterthoughts:

Annnd there you have it for this week!

I’ll be doing haphazard blog hopping throughout the day/week for today’s top ten post so I do apologize if my responses are a bit slower this week (side story: I read on some blog survey a while back that I provide ‘guaranteed comments/feedback’ to a TTT post. And to you who said this, you’re pretty cool! But now that means I must uphold this tradition–even in busy times of the Toronto International Book Fair this week!)

Cheers,
Joey

  1. You know what, an anthology on the Hunger Games Victors would probably be pretty awesome. I’d definitely pick that collection up.

I’d probably be in the minority then, because Tom Keen is probably one of my favorite characters in The Blacklist, lool. It’s probably why it’s taking me too long to watch more episodes, because I’m scared of how they’ll treat the character.

Also: YES to a Felicity spinoff.

    1. (Derp. It slipped my mind that I haven’t responded to this yet. Apologies!)

While it’d be cool to read into the games of the previous victors, I’m thinking it’d be even cooler to read into random peeps. Perhaps the winner of the first games (was that ever known? maybe it slipped my mind).

Have you caught up on The Blacklist yet? I don’t want to make any comment regarding Tom if you haven’t.

And I’m liking this Arrow show with more Felicity moments. They’re golden.

      1. Wasn’t Mags one of the first victors? Actually, maybe the first quell, but I can’t exactly remember, it’s been a while since I’ve read the books. The internet has that written up somewhere lol. But reading about the first hunger games winners would be pretty cool.

I haven’t caught up yet! I kind of started Criminal Minds on Netflix…and four seasons later happened…

      1. haha the clock thing is super obvious! I haven’t seen the 3rd movie yet but I’ve heard mixed reviews so now I’m like “meh, I’ll just watch it when it’s out on Amazon”

        No worries!

  2. I am SO on board with Fitz and Simmons getting their own spin-off. Also maybe Gollum’s story would be more interesting than the original… Great list.

  3. I love the idea of a Victors Anthology! I saw on another blog a Finnick prequel and loved it, but a prequel with so many of them would be awesome! (I also want a spin-off of Gale!)
I’m a few episodes behind on the Black List, but I still think Tom is around. Is he Behind the Door? (Don’t tell me!) Finding out what’s behind the door is the episode I have to watch next.

    1. I think Fitz and Simmons would be wonderful speakers in delivering science I could care about (or maybe I’m just experiencing overly positive feels because they make me smile).

I will teeter between Barricity and Olicity but I will not jump on that Palmicity wagon! (I don’t know if that’s the official name cause I could care less about it LOLOLOL).
