[He Said, She Said] – A New Discussion Feature

Hey everyone – there’s cool new happenings a-brewin’ as I’ve been throwing ideas back and forth with another blogger and I think it’s finally time to unveil what I’ve been working on recently!

HE SAID, SHE SAID is a brand-new monthly feature created and hosted by Rachel @ Confessions of a Book Geek and Joey @ Thoughts and Afterthoughts where formality is thrown out the window in no-holds-barred discussions on all things bookish.

So, now you’re probably wondering how this all came to be? Well…

He said: On my perilous journey to find another male blogger, I traversed the forums of Goodreads and waded through pages of the Forest of Blogs only to be left cold, alone, and feeling the emptiness that could only be remedied by having bro-talk discussions. That’s how the story goes, at least. It has always been a goal of mine to find another dude to rant-talk about books and create a forward-thinking environment to engage the thought that guys are not all that different from girls in how they perceive bookish table topics. But another day gone is another missed opportunity.

Meanwhile…

She said: I knew I wanted to collaborate with another blogger on a really unique feature, something fresh that hadn’t been seen before, but I struggled to find a topic that really inspired me. I’d always enjoyed Joey’s blogging style and slowly began torturing him to do a collaboration, even though I may not have fit-the-bill (anatomically speaking). But still, nothing stuck. It was during Joey’s Top Ten Tuesday post on Blogging Confessions that I spotted an opportunity, and pounced on it…

He said: While on my scroll home along Reader Road, you know… the usual antics of saying hello with a tip of the hat and a cheer, I turned onto Tag Lane and was mugged; both in the literal and metaphorical sense. It was so sudden, so immediate, and felt as though she was asking me a life or death request. I stared apprehensively as words came out of hershe wanted to collaborate on a project, I think—except all I could hear was the void left by another day of failure to find another testosterone-filled blogger. But then I heard the faintest of sounds; the low hum from a light bulb with a spark coursing through it, and so I listened.

She said: After some gentle persuasion, I convinced Joey that a male/female collaboration would make for an excellent feature. We all know there can be a serious lack of male perspectives when it comes to the book blogging community, and like many females, I’ve always been curious about the elusive species of male readers – What do they like to read? What do they make of our book-boyfriend fascinations? What makes them tick? Now, finally, we may get the chance to find out.

He said: And that, is how He Said, She Said was born.

So what do Rachel and I have in-store for all you cool readers of the Intarwebs? I actually have no idea! But what I do know is that it’s going to involve lots of discussions and plenty of rants so get ready to join in on the conversation because we’re always interested to hear what you have to say—positive or negative!  And let us know if you have any topics you think requires a mixed gender throw-down of a debate. We welcome all input!

Cheers,
Joey

    1. Always great to hear that random arguments can garner interest. If you haven’t noticed, I love ranting and talking things through in a face-to-face conversational style, so I do hope that you can feel part of the dialogue when each discussion gets rolling!
